Regional General Manager
Position Title: Regional General Manager
Reporting to: CEO
Location: Northyards & Retreat, Atlanta
The Gathering Spot (TGS) is a private membership club founded in 2016 for professionals, creatives, and entrepreneurs in Atlanta and Washington, D.C., committed to fostering community, culture, and connection through curated experiences, content, and dining. Additionally, TGS operates Retreat, an exclusive, private rooftop club designed to facilitate refined social interaction and high-end hospitality for leaders and culture-shapers seeking meaningful relationships and elevated experiences.
Position Summary
The Regional General Manager leads operations across our two Atlanta-area locations: The Gathering Spot Atlanta (Northyards) — our flagship membership club — and Retreat, our luxury concept in West Midtown. Together, these two clubs anchor our member experience in our home market and represent the operational and cultural heart of TGS.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Regional General Manager serves as the senior operational leader on the ground for TGS Atlanta and Retreat, directly managing each location's General Manager and senior operations leaders. In this role, the position holds comprehensive accountability for upholding operational excellence, driving financial performance, cultivating team development, and ensuring a superior member experience across a premier hospitality brand. The position demands hands-on management with flexible hospitality hours—including evenings and weekends—and requires an active on-site presence during major activations, member events, and peak service times.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver an exceptional member experience.
- Leads member experience and retention across both locations — the standards, the service, the consistency, and the recognition that keep members returning
- Set a high standard for hospitality and ensure that every club experience reflects the TGS brand.
- Establishes the strategic direction of both clubs while providing a premier hospitality experience and efficient operations.
- Lead and develop a great team.
- Develop and hold accountable a strong leadership team while creating a culture of clarity, collaboration, hospitality and execution.
- Collaborates with club leadership to develop and meet company goals while supplying expertise and guidance on operations, projects and systems.
- Identifies training needs and ensures proper training is developed and provided.
- Drive operational excellence.
- Sets the strategy for operations excellence - service standards, food and beverage execution, scheduling discipline, club cleanliness, and the hundred details that separate good hospitality from exceptional hospitality
- Leads cross-club coordination between Atlanta and Retreat — including the floating culinary, banquet, and maintenance teams that serve both locations
- Reinforce partnership with the Private Events, Programming, and Member Experience & Growth functions to ensure clubs are set up for execution
- Own the business.
- Drive P&L performance for both the Atlanta and Retreat clubs
- Ensures that club decisions and plans such as those for staffing, development, organization, hardware acquisitions, and facilities are in line with the TGS business plan and vision.
- Build community inside and outside the club.
- Develop authentic relationships with members while maintaining a meaningful presence within Atlanta’s business, cultural, civic and creative communities.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
- Seasoned, emotionally intelligent and highly relational leader who combines hospitality instincts with disciplined execution.
- Financial fluency — comfortable with P&L ownership, labor models, food cost, and the unit economics of hospitality
- On-the-floor leadership modeling the service standard you expect from the team
- A track record of building service cultures that members and guests feel — the kind of operator who walks the floor and can tell you within five minutes whether the night is going well
- Demonstrated ability to develop people — your former direct reports are your strongest references
- A real sense of brand. You understand that operations is the brand at a premium club, and you can hold service standards without making the team feel surveilled
- Comfort in a fast-moving, owner-led business. This is not a corporate hospitality environment, and the candidate who thrives here will value autonomy and accountability in equal measure
- Computer savvy; proficient in MS Office
- Outstanding communication and customer service skills with a knack for creating solutions
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational and time management skills
Education & Experience:
- BS/BA in Business Administration, Hospitality Management or related field is required, MBA strongly preferred
- 10+ years of progressive leadership in hospitality, hotels, restaurants, private clubs, or premium experiential brands
- Direct experience leading multi-unit or multi-location operations — you've managed managers, not just teams
